FAQ

F&Q

Cause 1
The charger is ready to start charging the car

Cause 2
You have connected the car, but the charger cannot find the car

Action

  • Check that the CP signal cable from the plug/socket is connected correctly on the bottom card.
  • Check that the CP signal in the charging cable is not broken.
  • Disconnect the power to the wallbox and see if errors can be corrected by an update.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause 1
The car is fully charged.

Cause 2
The car is connected but does not charge.

Action

  • Check the car settings (e.g. gear lever, car locked, timer).
  • Ensure SW1-->DIP4 is set to ON.
  • Check that the contactor control switch is not connected incorrectly (A1 should be connected to port no. 3 from the top of the quick connector on the bottom card).
  • The contactor does not operate for some reason. Check that the operating voltage is 220-230 V between A1 and A2 on the contactor.
    • If there is no control voltage, check the connection of contactor control switch (A1 should be connected to port no. 3 from the top of the quick connector on the bottom card)
    • If control voltage is present; replace the contactor.
  • Reset the slave on SW3 on the bottom card (located at the bottom of the charger. You should have the voltage on when you do this and press and hold until it beeps once, you should then release it and then wait about 10-15 minutes)
  • Check on the web interface (WLAN only) that charging is not blocked.
  • Try removing the WLAN module and see if charging starts without this. If it starts, update/replace the WLAN module.

If you have tested everything and nothing works, contact GARO support (Do not forget the M number).

Cause 1
The SSID does not correspond with that stated on the sticker in the box.

Cause 2
You get GLB8989898 instead of the SSID on the sticker.

Action 1
Contact support@garo.se to get the correct password for your box.

Action 2
The WLAN module does not have contact with the bottom card for some reason.

  1. The Wifi module is not inserted correctly in the bottom card.
  2. One or more pins on the 40-pin connector are bent.
  3. The WLAN module has been inserted incorrectly in the 40-pin connector on the bottom card.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the SSID number).

Cause of error
RFID approved, waiting for the car.

Action
If you do not want to go the next mode , you should check the car's settings.

Cause
Charging in progress, car charging.

Cause of error
The car is not charging.

Action 1
The contactor does not operate for some reason. Check that the operating voltage is 220-230 V between A1 and A2 on the contactor.

Action 2
If there is no control voltage, check the connection of contactor control switch (A1 should be connected to port no. 3 from the top of the quick connector on the bottom card)

Action 3
If control voltage is present; replace the contactor.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
Protective circuit breaker has tripped.

Action 1
Check the circuit breaker and reset.

Action 2
Check that the heavy current quick connector is connected properly. (Port 1 from above should have 230 V for chargers to indicate green.)

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
DC leakage detected

Action
Can only occur during charging - Reset by disconnecting car - Also resets automatically after 15 minutes.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
High charger temperature.

Action
Is the wallbox mounted in a position where it is exposed to sun?
(Should not occur without the car being connected and high power (3-phase 32 A). If high temperature without the car being connected, a defective temperature sensor is the probable cause - the bottom card must be replaced.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
Defective charging cable.

Action 1
Check that the CP/PP pins have good contact between the charger and the car.

Action 2
Check Dip 4 – SW2 (Check SW2-->DIP4.  Should be set to ON with fixed cable. OFF with socket.)

Cause of error 1
Cable locking unsuccessful.

Action

  • Check the bottom of the socket whether the seal has come loose and become stuck in the bottom of the socket. If so, pull it out and discard it (do not replace it).
  • The locking motor in the socket cannot lock (misaligned, broken)
  • If you have removed the seal on a new socket, there will be a gap in the socket resulting in locking problems

Cause of error 2
Is it a fixed cable or socket?

Action
Check SW2-->DIP4. Should be set to ON with fixed cable. OFF with Socket.

Cause of error 3
Communication between wallboxes connected in clusters fails.
Action
Check that the installed communication circuit between charging boxes is connected correctly and intact.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
The DC error monitor has calibration issues.

Cause
Disconnect the power to the charger and leave it without power for 30 seconds before turning the power back on. The charger will perform a recalibration of the module during startup. If the problem recurs, return the DC ring using your dealer’s trading route.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Action

  • Try disconnecting the power for 60 seconds and then turn on.
  • Check that the heavy current quick connector is connected properly in the bottom card.
  • Check the 2 A glass fuse in the upper left of the bottom card. (If this has blown, try replacing it. However, there is a high risk that it will blow as soon as the power is switched on again).

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
Software update in progress.

Cause of error
DLM inoperative. Wallbox enters emergency power mode and delivers a maximum of 6 A to the vehicle.

Action
If the master box + slaves exhibit this behaviour:

  • Check that the external meter has voltage and that the address is set to “100”.
  • Make sure that the RX/TX symbol flashes in the display on the meter (3-phase only). If it does not flash, the meter and wallbox are not communicating. Check the cabling and meter address.
  • Which cabling has been used? --> Twisted pair is the minimum requirement, but shielding is recommended in installations with a risk of interference.
  • Check FW on the master (unstable to the external meter in FW versions under 100)

If only one or more slaves in a cluster exhibit this behaviour:

  • Make sure that SW1-->DIP6 is set to “ON” on the first and last wallboxes in the Modbus loop (The Data link circuit connects master with slaves). Check that the other boxes have this set to “OFF”.
  • Check that the Modbus cabling is not damaged or poorly connected anywhere in the “Data link” circuit (start tracing on the Modbus cabling between the last working and first non-functioning wallbox).
  • To trace faulty wallboxes that can disrupt the entire cluster --> Split the cluster in half by dividing the “Data link” bus in the middle. Check if the white flash light disappears. If NO, divide again, continue until the white flash ceases. Now connect to one wallbox at a time until the white flash light comes back on. This box/bottom card is the source of the fault and must be replaced with a new one.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).

Cause of error
Remote control is enabled, or scheduled control in the web interface.

Action
Action 1 = Check SW1 Dip4 which should be in the ON position if you are not going to use the function.
Action 2 = Check the web interface so that you do not enable scheduled control.

If you have tried everything and nothing works, please contact GARO support (do not forget the part number).
